Xavious’ Alchemy Guide
Being the cheap ass alchemist that I am, you will find that this guide to skillups uses various materials I collected while farming. I also use a mule for collection of items for later use. I try to craft on the day of the crystal. Just seemed to work the best for me overall.
I do all my crafting with advanced support. Not a great idea though if your < 3 away from the skill cap (I did not know this, so if you want to screw up doing this too its ok). I had TH1 for the farming part, without it, probably will be camping the AH instead.
0-5 Farmed Rams,
Beeswax – (Fire + Beehive Chips x 3)
Farmed bees in the Highlands while killing the rams for cash. I just started to stack them on my mule along with honey. Keep the Beeswax, this sells for ~ 17K a stack and you won’t want to be buying it later. (price adjusted to reflect current price)
6-10 Went shopping,
Deodorizer – (Wind + Olive Oil + Sage + Chamomile)
When I got several stacks of bee chips, I went shopping for these items. To save time I took both the bee chips I collected and these items to the guild and sythesized them all at the same time.
Chamomile is purchased in Upper Jeuno (M&P Market)
Olive Oil and Sage is purchased in San d’Oria (Sandy Grocery Store)
Check the AH, but you may need to sell these to the guild.
11-12 Power leveled,
Poison Dust – (Lightning + Yellow Globe ×2)
Used crystals I farmed in the Highlands. Purchased the Yellow globes at the AH if I recall correctly. These are most likely a guild sell item.
13-16 Took a Vacation,
Mercury – (Lightning + Cobalt Jellyfish x4)
Went out to Bibiki Bay for a vacation cruise. Hung out at the fishing guild and purchased cheap cobalt jellyfish. After tipping a few back, I sent these to my mule. Try the Pina Coladas there, you’ll thank me. Mercury sells at the AH fairly well.
17-20 Back to the Guild,
Echo Drops – (Water + Sage + Distilled Water + Honey)
I really like crafting at the guild. Hate going there, but when I’m there its a good time. Saw Tegga craft a Hakutaku Eye Cluster, some lucky player was going for an optical hat. Used the honey from farming rams. I think I scored a few water clusters in LTP messing around one day too. Check the AH and sell to BB for 20% above the most recent bid.
21-24 Farmed in Korroloka,
Silent Oil x4 – (Water + Slime Oil + Beeswax x 2)
I farmed the ooze in Korolloka tunnel for slime oil. These drop suprisingly well, sometimes 2 at a time. These oils sell extremely well. Check Jeuno, back when I did it, mining in Ifrit’s was popular and I was selling my oils for mucho denero. (read: a lot of mooleh!<3)
25-27 Farmed in Pashhow,
Blinding Potion -
(Water + Sleepshoom + Poison Flour + Crying Mustard)
While killing Goobbues, I took trips trough the side tunnels killing the fungars. Stacked on mule along with all the Treant Bulbs I was picking up from the Goobues. Then I went shopping, Poison flour is sold in the goblin junk shop in Lower J. Go to the back of the shop near the RSE gobby and talk to Bluffnix. Tell him I sent you and you get a small discount. Crying mustard is sold in the Sandy Grocery. Hold on to these potions.
27-31 Hanging out at the Guild,
Blind Bolt Heads -
(Wind + Animal Glue + Bronze Ingot + Blinding Potion)
Ok, this is why I made the blinding potions. At this point, you may become concerned because this can really suck if your not subbing wood or smithing. This synth requires level cap 14 smithing and if you want to be able to sell these without losing alot of dough, you will want to be able to have at least 15 woodcrafting to craft them into blind bolts.
32-42 Farming in Passhow,
Vitriol – (Water + Treant Bulb x2)
In Passhow I concentrated alot more now on killing the Water Elements as this synth ended up having major breakage as I took it from 32-42 which is not easy for skillup. I had many Treant Bulb stacks on my mule from farming out there back when I was doing the sleepshrooms. I had to synth this at the guild until i got within 6 to the cap. After that I just farmed and crafted at the same time to get up to the cap. Vitriol is not a good seller, but its dirt cheap to make, I didn’t have to spend any gil on this part besides guild support.
43-51 Back to the Guild,
Holy Water – (Light + Distilled Water)
Thank God the rusty fisherman were finally nerfed at this point. I could finally get some cheap(er) light crystals and could synth this one. I was happy becuase this is an easy synth and the end product actually sells in the AH for cost or minimal loss/gain.
52-53
Holy Bolt Heads – (Wind + Holy Water x 2 + Bronze Ingot)
Need to have smithing level 14 cap for this. Holy bolt heads should sell great at the AH as they are great for rangers. If you have woodcrafting 15, you can make the bolts for another way to unload these bolt heads.
54-60 Farmed in Rolanberry Fields
Hi-Potion – (Water + Marlboro Vine + Sage x2 + Distilled Water)
I farmed the vines which drop great out in Rolanberry off the Ochus. These can drop 2 at a time as well. They also drop Dodge headbands which sell 2-3k a pop too. Until around level 57 I would farm them and go to the guild. After that I just farmed and crafted until I hit the level cap. These sell in the AH for 1.5k to 2.5k and can provide a decent income while leveling up.
