Trehan’s Smithing Guide
Ok the 1st thing I can say about smithing is thats its damn expansive so get used to losing some gil. But there is a way to minimize your lose & thats by mining, mining, & more mining. Once you get to lvl 20 smithing you can make almost all the ore you mine into ingots.
0-2
Bronze ingots: fire crystal + 1 tin ore + 3 copper ore
This is an easy synth & you can keep the ingots for the next synth.
2-4
Bronze sheets: fire crystal + 1 bronze ingot
Also an easy synth & you keep the sheets or the next synth.
4-10
Bronze scales: wind crystal + 1 bronze sheet
Well this is a shitty synth cause the scales are useless just npc them
cause the next synth sucks even worse.
10-15
Tin ingots: fire crystal + 4 tin ores
These are the most usless synth in the game. Just npc & move on.
15-20
Iron ingots: fire crystal + 4 iron ores
Hurray finally a money maker if you can mine them up & you can also
HQ these into steel ingots
20-22
Iron sheets: fire crystal + 1 iron ingot
These are good to keep around cause you will need them for later.
22-25
Spatha: fire crystal + 1 lizard skin + 3 bronze ingots
Again another bad synth, AH some & npc the rest.
25-29
Iron mask: earth crystal + 1 iron sheet + 1 brass sheet
Not a bad synth cause you can AH them in jeuno & just sell the rest to
a npc
a) 29-34
Padded cap: light crystal + 1 rusty cap
b) 29-34
Warhammer: fire crystal + 1 elm lumber + 2 iron ingots
These are 2 synths that you can do at this lvl. If you fish you may have
some rusty caps so use them or just synth the warhammers.
34-39
Padded cap: earth crystal + 2 lizard skin + 1 iron sheet
To start off you need Leathercraft at 9 for this synth. Again AH & npc
39-44
Mythril bolt heads: wind crystal + 1 mythril ingot
Well guess what this one really sucks. If your lucky to find a crafter to
buy them then hurray for you, otherwise just AH them if you can.
a)44-48
Mythril claws: fire crystal + 1 beetle jaw + 1 mythril ingot
Bonecraft at 13 needed.
b)44-48
Padded armor: earth crystal + 2 lizard skin + 3 iron sheets
Leathercrafting at 13 needed.
48-52
Darksteel ingot: fire crystal + 1 darksteel ore + 3 iron ores
Hurray you made it this far. If you can mine the darksteel ore GOOD
if not its about 14k to buy the ore. These ingots are up to 20k each
& if you buy all the ingredients you can profit about 3k. Also stacks
of ingot are selling for around 240k. Keep the ingots if you can.
52-56
Plate leggings: fire crystal + 2 sheep leather + 3 iron sheets
Not all that bad you can sell these on the AH pretty easy other wise just
npc them too.
56-60
Darksteel Bolt Heads: wind crystal + 1 darksteel ingot
Hope you kept some of those darksteel ingots cause you will need them.
These sell pretty fast & you can profit or break even on this synth.
